I officially lost 43 lbs in 9 months

It’s official. I just had my 9th official weigh in at the gym today.  I lost a total of 43 lbs in 9 months! Yes, I am now down to 136.80 lbs.  Even my bust has gone down to 38 in coming from 44.75 in back in June 2014. Lol.

This is my official report.  I lost almost 20 kg of unwanted weight in my 9 months of membership in Curves.

Back in June 2014, my 5 ft 3 in frame peaked at 180 lbs.  At obese class 1, I always had allergic rhinitis attack every morning.  I had nightly acid re-flux. It was always difficult sleeping, what with the acid racing to my throat while lying down.  I also  snored really loud and I even wake up in the middle of my sleep only because I hear myself snore. Whoa!  It was time to make a change.

This was me on my first visit in the gym. I just had my site tour and finished my gym consultation. I was excited to start a new journey.

Now that I follow a healthy lifestyle, gone are the daily allergic rhinitis attacks.  Gone are the heartburn.  Gone are the silly snores that used to wake me up in the middle of the night. 😀

I feel lighter now. I feel nimbler. And I feel stronger too.

This is me this afternoon after my workout.  I took a pose with the gym coach Cha and Zumba Zin coach Liezel.

Yes, there are a lot of products out there that promise to cut your weight loss journey really really short. But it’s not sustainable.  I took the healthy living route. And on average I lost 5 lbs of unwanted weight every month.  And I didn’t experience the weight gain rebound.  🙂

I am glad I stepped foot at Curves Eastwood back in June 2014.  That decision to start a 3x a week 30-minute total body workout sessions in the training circuit totally changed my life.   The gym coaches are always encouraging.  They always have a ready smile on their faces too.   There is never a dull moment each time I visit the gym for my workout.

I used to eat practically all kinds of processed food my sweet tooth and salty taste can munch on.  Chippy and Tortillos were my favorite snacks. Cheese and all kinds of cheese were my favorite bread pair. Ham, hotdog, bacon, maling, spam, beef loaf, corned beef, sausages, canned tuna, — these used to be part of my meals.  I used to stack a pitcher of iced tea in my refrigerator too every time and I don’t finish a meal without iced tea. I thought iced tea makes the body metabolism fast. It turned out that I was just drinking calories.  Lol.

I am always grateful with that conversation I had with coach Cindy in the gym.  She totally explained to me in a matter of 15-min chitchat how calories work. Haha.

The workout sessions didn’t just help me tone my muscles. It also helped me with my decision to totally overhaul my eating habits.   That conversation caused me to become a major advocate of eating real food only.  And real food together with at least 2.5 L of water a day truly cleansed and detoxified my body.

Curves Eastwood is always going to be a part of me.  It’s already — Family. 🙂

Fitspiration

I feel awesome today.

The photo I posted on my personal FB page the other day got almost 200 FB likes. Some of those who liked the photo commented that my story inspired them. Some asked me what I did to change from 180 lbs to 139 lbs.  Some even asked me what food I eat. And some speculated I skipped meals.  Lol.

I did not always look fit until I decided to make a lifestyle shift.

This was me and a friend back in May 2013.  We attended a party sponsored by the company we worked for.  We call ourselves “twins” as our body figure and weight were practically the same.

We attended the same party in May 2014 and both of us grew even bigger.  may2014

In the first week of June 2014, we both decided to get our weights measured. At 5 ft and 3 in, I weighed 180 lbs. I was sure surprised.

I always had nightly acid re-flux disturbing my sleep.  My woman cycle was uber irregular, even having 4 cycles in a year only.  I was brought to the hospital for that.   I always had allergic rhinitis attacks almost every morning when I wake up and oftentimes, the attacks would escalate to flu. I also used to snore really loud and bad. I would always wake up in the middle of the sleep because I hear myself snore. Ha ha ha.

Back in 2012 I enrolled in Fitness First, one of  the most-sought after gyms in our country.   Perhaps because the fee was too expensive if I would hire a personal trainer and I felt so alone working out with no directions, it didn’t work out well for me.

The best benefit I had in that short stint perhaps was that I got some photo ops with local celebrities who works out in the same gym too.  It was always fun posing with them and posting the photos on my FB page. 🙂

This is me in 2012 with Jericho Rosales, a local celebrity.

One week after the weigh in I had with my friend, I decided to address my health and start a change in my lifestyle.   I enrolled in a gym for women and everything went into  the course I wanted to happen.

I lost an average of 5 lbs per month without having to starve or skip any meal. By May 2015, I can see myself being at 127 – 130 lbs.  I didn’t need to take diet pills or diet drinks or diet whatever.   I knew, taking the shortcut will not work in the long run.

Based on the healthy BMI weight range, my weight is already normal.  I am already in fact reaping the benefit of being healthy. I never had any acid reflux for almost a year now, my allergic rhinitis is pretty much a thing of the past, and my woman cycle is now monthly and regular. I no longer hear myself snoring and I get to sleep peacefully.  My friends and colleagues even commented that my skin has become smoother with a healthy glow.

I am happy with the results of my lifestyle change.

Everyone who wants to lose weight the healthy way can totally do the same.  My method is simple: Eat right, eat real food, drink lots of water, sleep well, and exercise.

Let us live healthy. 😉

I am a believer

It’s another good day today.  I had my workout in the gym and I met with a friend in Go Salads at Eastwood.  We had a real good catching up this afternoon afternoon over a healthy jeepney green smoothie.   I learned from her that for two weeks she had her meals delivered through that diet company offering 1200 calories per day diet. But she felt deprived and she didn’t see any significant improvement in her weight.

Last January 8, 2015 I was featured in the FB page of the gym I am enrolled to.  It feels awesome knowing that I have become a fitspiration for other women too.

I was 146 lbs in January 2015. Now I already weigh 139 lbs.  By March 17, 2015 I will be at 138 lbs.  By April 17 I will be down to 132 lbs and by May 2015 my weight will go down further to 127 lbs.   My goal is to maintain a weight range of 121-127 lbs.

I’m glad that the gym is now offering body basic 30-minute  body part specific targeted workout.  They are now offering core, arms, legs, and glute-targeted workouts.  I’m loving these workouts especially the glute-targeted and the core-targeted body basics.  It’s toning my tummy and shaping my behind.

I gave my friend some tips on how to cut down unwanted weight without having to starve and feel deprived.   We also went to the grocery and I showed her the calorie count of the food she has been eating.  She was appreciative and took down notes.  She also bought papaya, dark chocolate, and anchor unsalted butter.  I’m excited about the results of her weight loss journey.

Exercise and eating right are truly awesome! I am happy. 😉
