How my twin lost 9 lbs in 30 days

Jen is definitely on track.  After 30-days through her healthy weight loss journey, she has already shed off 9 lbs of unwanted weight. From 205 lbs in March 9, 2015, she is now 196 lbs.

This is my twin in May 2014.  She was 190 lbs.  10 months later, she packed in 15 lbs more and grew to be 205 lbs.

3 months through my enrollment in the gym, Jen was convinced to enroll in the same gym I go to.  She had a strong start and she was definitely having fun.  However, she got caught up with her work as a manager in a BPO company and she was not able to consistently do her gym sessions.  Finally in January 2015, she dropped the gym and went on with her daily life.

Just 1 month ago, Jen and I met at Go Salads, a green salad bar in Eastwood. While enjoying each of our serving of green jeepney smoothie made up of lettuce, pineapple, and some almonds, our catch up detoured to a conversation about my weight loss.  She told me that she was completely inspired by my transformation from an obese class 1  to a healthy 134 lbs woman. She listened to my story.

That same day, I gave her a short session on understanding calories of the food she eats.  I also encouraged her to start a healthy weight loss journey with me which includes eating real food only and drinking only water at least 2 L per day.I told her that if she would follow through the tips I am giving her, she would definitely lose 8 – 10 lbs in 30 days.

Jen started to change her grocery list and started to buy real food.  She used to be a big fan of processed food such as hotdogs, bacon, and spam.  But since then, she has said yes only to real food. She would send me photos of her breakfast, her lunch, and her dinner.  She would enjoy her vegetable and eat her fruits,  steamed chicken, fish, and beef and snack on controlled portions of nuts and banana.

Jen’s steamed cauliflower and carrot dinner.

She would also drink coffee with 10 g of Anchor unsalted butter in the morning during her breakfast. This coffee concoction suppresses her cravings to eat more food and makes her feel full a little longer until her lunch time 5 hours later.  She enjoys eating sweet potato too.

This is my twin, from 205 lbs in March 9, 2015 to 196 lbs 30 days later.

Jen’s healthy weight loss journey doesn’t stop with eating the right kind of food. She also takes time walking for at least 30 minutes 3x a week.  Either she would go out with her music and walk or she enjoys her walk pushing her niece’s stroller.

“Twin, now that I’ve started this healthy weight loss journey.  There is no turning back.” Jen declared with her eyes beaming with determination.

She is definitely on a roll. And she is loving it.   😀

A refreshing treat

Lunch today was an awesome treat from the boss.  He brought his management team in 2nd’s restaurant at Bonifacio Global City.

The food was excellent too.  I had the crispy chicken fillet fried in butter, some vegetables on the side, a slice of corn muffin, and lots of water.  Water is good for the health. It has zero calories, refreshing, and it flushes out body toxins.  What is better than that? 😀

Today’s lunch.

The waiter gave me vinegar for my dip.  I always prefer vinegar over any other dip as it makes body metabolism fast and consequently burns calories faster too.  The Tabasco sauce that came with my lunch today was also good and healthy.  It has 1 calorie only for every teaspoon, plus, it tastes really good.

“Anna, how’s your food?” the boss asked.

I rated it 10/10.  The chicken had the right crisp on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside.  The smell of the butter was perfect too.   The vegetables on the side were also cooked just right.  They all retained their crispiness and their individual sweetness.  I would also commend the baker for baking the corn muffin perfectly.  It had the right softness and crumbliness.

Me, the boss, and the management team.

I’m excited to have my own version of this dish over the weekend using a mix of coconut oil and Anchor unsalted butter to give the chicken it’s distinct crisp and buttery aroma.

I’ve lost a total of 46 lbs over the last 9.5 months since I started my healthy weight loss journey last June 2014.  From 180 lbs I am now down to 134 lbs.  My new food choices has definitely helped me with my journey.

If you want to try the food at 2nds, you may visit them at the  2nd floor, Building 1, B3, 9th Avenue, Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City, Philippines.

Just keep on eating healthy and keep the stress away! 😀

And since it rained

I prepared for a 1-hour walk and run around the neighborhood today. I got all geared up with my pink go run and my gray and black top. And then it rained. Whoa! Rain in the middle of the hot season here in our tropical country.

I needed to exercise today. I always walk and run every Sunday.  I need to do something else.

I remembered that workout video shared in her FB page by one of the coaches in the gym. The video was about some easy core exercises. I decided to check it out and work out right there in my room.   Wow!  Turns out that the exercises were pretty intense. I got drenched all over.   In just 20 minutes of core exercises, it seemed like I got drenched in the rain.  lol.

I love this routine. I’m definitely going to do this routine at least 5x a week for the next 30-days.  My abdomen is now at 35.5 in coming from 43 in 9 months ago.   With the 5x a week core exercises that I am now doing for the next 30-days, my goal is to shrink my abdomen down to 33 inches by April 22, 2015 and drop it further to 30 inches by May 22, 2015.

I am now 136.8 lbs coming from 143 lbs in February 17, 2015 and 180 lbs in June 2014.  With the new routines I’m doing, I’m looking forward to dropping more unwanted weight and by April 22, 2015 I shall be down to 132 lbs.   By May 2015, I shall meet my personal target of 127 lbs.

This video truly rocks.  Two repetitions of the entire 10 min video is all that I needed to drench in sweat. Here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1651682521721531&set=vb.1592232187666565&type=2&theater

Exercise is just amazing.  Let’s get this going. 🙂

Playing sports is healthy

What a truly pleasant and activity-filled day it is today.  I am exhausted and happy.

The workout at the gym was the most intense workout I had yet.  It was 30-minutes of glute-targeted exercises alternating with hydraulic weights for a total body workout.   The wall squats were the most difficult at this point but I got through with it just fine.   I’m excited to do more of these exercises at least 3x a week.

My favorite part when working out is the stretching. The 15-second stretching on each of the stations of the stretching circuit makes me sweat real good.  I can also feel my muscles shaping and strengthening.

I also participated in the launching of an energy drink.  Turns out that the Live To Feel activity I joined last Saturday was just a prelude to launch an energy drink.  I got 2 of the drinks after I joined their games.  The 500-ml drink contains 150 calories. Not exactly very healthy but can be a good indulgence once in a while and should be taken in moderation.  I prefer to drink water.  Water has zero calories and it quenches my thirst. Plus, water is definitely healthy.  That said I gave the other bottle to some of my friends.

I went out with a friend and had lunch in My Thai.  I had sauteed water spinach topped with grilled pork for my lunch. Healthy and good food. I love it.

We played bowling in thePaeng Nepomuceno bowling center in the 4th level of Eastwood City Walk mall.  It was good fun. The last time I played bowling was back in 2003 when I was still working as a Trainer in a bakery franchise company. 12 years down the line, I still had it.  I won the game today. Fun!

Another good news.  I dropped another 4 lbs from the last weigh in.  I was 143 lbs last February 17 and today, I weigh 139 lbs.  How amazing eating right and exercising right can be.  I already lost 41 lbs since I started working out in June 2014.

I bought 20 pcs of 10-g Anchor unsalted butter at the mall too.  Anchor unsalted butter is good. From grass-fed cows of New Zealand comes this healthy butter that gives me good fat.  Good fat is good as it gives my body the feeling of being full.   Helps me with my weight loss  too.

I just discovered this knowledge just last week and I am now putting this butter in my coffee. I do this once a day and I feel full.   My breakfast usually is black coffee with zero sugar and a piece of small apple.   Sometimes, I have 2pcs of small pandesal and black coffee with zero sugar.  Since last week, I would always put a teaspoon of Cadia Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) in my black coffee. VCO is good fat.   The medium chain triglycerides in coconut oil have been shown to increase 24 hour energy expenditure by as much as 5%. This increases metabolism and sharpens the brain too.

Since I started putting VCO in my coffee, I don’t get hungry fast.  Whereas before,  3 hours after breakfast I already need to eat another apple or a piece of banana,  now I don’t have to eat anything until my lunch time.   I get to focus on my work without being disturbed by a need to eat.

Starting last week too,  I have changed my lunch to 2 pieces of boiled sweet potato and 2 pieces of small boiled organic free-range egg. It is filling and taste very good.

I snack with a small square of 82% cocoa dark chocolate which has around 50 calories only.  Tastes good and bitter with just a tiny bit of sweetness. I also snack with a piece of apple or a piece of banana.

Then my dinner usually happens before 7PM with fish or chicken or pork or beef.  Good protein in the evening is good especially that my workout usually happens after work.  I always end the meal of a piece of small apple, or a piece of banana, or a slice of water melon, or a cup of ripe fresh papaya cubes.

My healthy weight loss continues. I should reach my target of 125 lbs by May 2015. I’m so excited for the beach.

I am happy.
